Rocket Money alternatives for Canada
Is Rocket Money available in Canada? No. Rocket Money's help centre says the app is "only available to users located within the United States and with U.S. based banks" (Rocket Money Help, checked October 28, 2026). Rocket Money used to be called Truebill.
So if you're in Canada and want to see and cut your subscriptions, you'll need a different tool. They fall into four groups.
1. Pick your approach
| Approach | How it works | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Bank-linked | Connects to your bank (often via Plaid or Flinks) and finds recurring charges | Less typing, but you share bank access with a third party; usually paid |
| Statement upload | You upload a PDF/CSV statement and the service scans it on its servers | No bank connection, but the file leaves your device; you re-upload to update |
| Statement import (on your device) | Your browser reads a CSV/OFX/QFX statement and finds recurring charges; nothing is uploaded | No bank connection and no upload; you re-import to update |
| Manual tracker | You enter each subscription once | No bank data at all; you have to add things yourself |
2. Canadian-available options compared
Prices as published on each company's site on October 28, 2026. CAD estimates use the Bank of Canada rate of USD/CAD 1.4038 (Oct. 27, 2026), before tax and card foreign-exchange fees.
| App | Type | Published price | ≈ CAD | Notes | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|

| YNAB | Budgeting | US$14.99/mo or US$109/yr | $21.04/mo · $153.01/yr | Billed in USD | ynab.com/pricing |
| Waypoint Budget | Bank-linked budget + subscriptions | Plus CA$7.99/mo or $79.99/yr; Pro CA$12.99/mo or $129.99/yr | same | Canadian | waypointbudget.com/pricing |
| Unified | Bank-linked, subscriptions + budgets | Pro $69/yr, 14-day trial | ~$69/yr | Currency not labelled on the page | unifiedbankings.com/pricing |
| Shelter | Recurring-charge finder (Plaid) | US$9.99/mo or US$79/yr | $14.02/mo · $110.90/yr | Billed in USD | shelter.money |
| SubSavvy | Statement upload, FR + EN | Free scan; Pro for reminders | Pro price not shown | Cancel guides for Canadian services | subsavvy.ca |
| TailTab | Manual | Free | $0 | Canadian; no paid tier seen | tailtab.ca |
| Bobby | Manual (iPhone) | Free up to 5 subs; CA$0.99 one-time unlock | $0.99 once | iOS only | App Store |
| TrackMySubs | Manual (web) | Free up to 10; US$10/mo or US$99.99/yr | $14.04/mo · $140.37/yr | Leans toward small business | trackmysubs.com |
| Subloupe | Statement import on your device (Beta) + manual (web) | Free: 5 subscriptions, statement import and detection included. Plus: unlimited subscriptions, with reminders, price-increase alerts by email and sync coming later, $3.99/month or $29/yr CAD plus applicable taxes (yearly saves about 40%). Founding members: $19 the first year, then $29/yr, plus applicable taxes. Plus can't be bought yet: join the Plus waitlist | Free · Plus $3.99/mo or $29/yr + applicable taxes | EN + FR; see what it does and doesn't do below | https://subloupe.com |
Prices change often, so confirm on each site before you sign up. Inclusion in this table isn't an endorsement, and leaving an app out isn't a judgement on it.
Watch out for paid "cancellation services." Some sites charge to cancel subscriptions for you. Cancelling Crave, illico+ or ICI TOU.TV EXTRA yourself is free and takes a few minutes (see our guides).
3. What Subloupe does, and doesn't do (yet)
We'd rather be upfront.
It does:
- On the Free plan: track 5 subscriptions, with statement import and detection included. Until Plus launches, going past 5 isn’t blocked: you can keep adding, and a short note offers the Plus waitlist (no payment). Every subscription stays editable
- Find recurring charges in a bank or credit card statement you import (CSV, OFX or QFX, several files at once). The file is read in your browser and never uploaded, and it works offline
- Put possibly forgotten charges first, sorted by yearly cost, with a $/yr total
- On your next import, flag what's new since last import and price increases
- Track subscriptions you add by hand too, in Canadian dollars
- Show your monthly total (monthly, yearly and weekly plans added up) and what renews in the next 30 days
- Give you a direct manage/cancel link for listed services
- Export your data to a file (JSON)
- Work with no account and no bank login. Only the subscriptions you confirm (and a small import memory you can clear) stay in your browser; raw transactions are dropped
It doesn't (yet):
- Connect to your bank (by design: you import a statement instead)
- Read PDF statements (download CSV, OFX or QFX from your online banking)
- Find a yearly renewal that appears only once in your file (export 12–13 months)
- Convert foreign-currency charges
- Send renewal reminders (coming later with Plus; Plus is waitlist-only for now)
- Send price-increase alerts by email (coming later with Plus; on Free, price increases are flagged when you import)
- Cancel subscriptions or negotiate bills for you (Rocket Money's US features)
- Sync between devices (coming later with Plus; your data lives in one browser, so use export to back it up)
Who it's for: people who want to find forgotten subscriptions without giving anyone their bank login or uploading their statement. Who it's not for: people who want charges found continuously with no monthly download, who want reminders or cancelling done for them, or who need to add more than 5 subscriptions right now (unlimited is Plus, which you can join the waitlist for but can't buy yet). A bank-linked tool from the table above may suit you better.
FAQ
Will Rocket Money launch in Canada? Rocket Money hasn't announced a Canadian launch on its help page. As of October 28, 2026, it's limited to U.S. users with U.S. banks.
Can I use Rocket Money with a VPN or a U.S. address? The requirement is a U.S.-based bank, so a VPN doesn't solve it. Using it outside the stated availability may also break its terms.
Is there a free Rocket Money alternative in Canada? Yes. TailTab is a free manual tracker, and SubSavvy offers a free statement scan. Bobby and TrackMySubs have free tiers with limits (5 and 10 subscriptions). Subloupe's Free plan covers 5 subscriptions and includes statement import and detection. Plus, for unlimited subscriptions, is $3.99/month or $29/yr CAD plus applicable taxes (about 40% less yearly). Founding members get $19 the first year, then $29/yr, plus applicable taxes. For now you join the waitlist, and no payment is taken.
Is it safe to link my bank to a budgeting app? Many apps connect through aggregators like Plaid or Flinks. Read each app's privacy policy and your bank's terms on third-party access. If you'd rather not share bank access, import a statement into a tool that reads it on your device, such as Subloupe, or use a manual tracker.
Why are some prices in USD? Several apps (Monarch, YNAB, Shelter, TrackMySubs) publish US-dollar prices. Your card may add a foreign-exchange fee on top of the converted amount.
Find the subscriptions you forgot
Import a bank or credit card statement (CSV, OFX or QFX). It's read in your browser and never uploaded. Import and detection are free, with no sign-up and no bank login.
